Most trick-taking card games suffer from a common flaw. If you get dealt bad cards, you are stuck with that hand. In Pirate Tricks, all players start with 5 cards. They then bid on a set of 7 cards to complete their hands. If you get stuck with a bad hand, it’s your fault for not bidding high enough.

Pirate Tricks is played in three rounds. Each round has a different strategy and plays differently based on the score cards, which change each round. There are three suits. Each suit has numbers 1-20. Red is always the trump suit.
